Simon

THE BIO:

Born in Charlemagne (a small town 30 miles east of Montreal, Quebec), Simon is the youngest of 14 children of a highly musical family…

Simon, are you just copying the biography on Celine Dion and using it as your own?

Yes, yes I am…

How about you start again.

If you don’t know me as Simon, chances are you’ve heard someone refer to me as the “Scottish Guy”.  I’m pretty sure I have one of the best jobs here at Kool FM as host of the All Request Saturday Night.  From 7pm – midnight each week I play all the great songs that you want to hear, as well as chatting up a storm with as many of you as I can.  You can also catch me on Friday nights starting at 7pm as we get you set for the weekend with your Weekend Warmup!!  Shake off your hangover with me on Sundays from Noon - 6pm and hang out with me on Monday nights from 7pm!

The biggest misconception about me is that I am always drunk.  Sometimes I am asleep.

E-mail me - scottishguy@1075koolfm.com

Oh, and hey – the next time you’re ‘creeping’ on Facebook, add me and we’ll be BFF’s!  Click that box down there...  DO IT!!

  • Canada's Hockey Golden Girls Under Investigation

It looks like our golden girls of hockey are facing an investigation by the International Olympic Committee after last night's gold medal celebrations.  After defeating the U.S. 2-0, the Canadian ladies returned to the ice off-camera to celebrate with some beer, bubbly, and cigars.  This is where the problem lies for the IOC.  Similar to the situation we saw last weekend with Scott Lago's ejection from the Olympic Village for some "racy" pictures, the Committee is up in arms at the ladies celebrating their win with alcohol in the arena while wearing their medals.  At this point, no action has been taken against the team, but the IOC has stated they will launch an investigation into the celebrations and respond accordingly.  Check out the pics of the celebrations below, which, in my opinion, are innocent and capture a moment that we as Canadians should be proud of.  What do you think?  Is the IOC going too far with their policing of the athletes or did our ladies go too far by bringing booze onto the Olympic ice?

  • Introducing The 2010 Platinum Medal

So if Evgeni Plushenko could just pass me that cup he is sipping from I'll be guaranteed a super fun afternoon.  Plushenko is the Russian figure skater who narrowly lost out on winning the gold to American Evan Lysacek during last week's competition.  But, apparently silver isn't good enough for our boy Evgeni (I think we have Nelly and Lohan to blame for that!) so he's been running around making a big fuss that he was robbed of the gold.  Well, it seems you and I missed out on the super duper extra special award he was deservedly given, because according to his website he was actually awarded the PLATINUM medal!!  Um, what?!  How old are you Evgeni?!  Paper covers rock and platinum beats gold: it looks like the skater is playing the part of a spoiled 5 year old and is telling us all where to go in spite of the Olympic judges.  C'mon, this is ridiculous and disrespectful to both the competing athletes and integrity of the games.  Scott Lago was ejected from the Village for "racy" pictures yet this man can make a mockery of the entire event and stay?  Something in the vodka ain't clean over in Vancouver, but I will have some with a splash of soda...

  • Fergie Rockin' Out

According to reports, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas will be releasing a follow up to her 2006 release The Dutchess toward the end of this year and it may be a departure from the pop sound we associate with her.  Into rock, in fact.  Which, despite how scary that thought may be originally, could very well be a good thing.  Check out Fergie covering Heart's Barracuda and judge for yourself.  (In case you get your judgement wrong, it's awesome.)

  • Back On Track

The music video for Avril Lavigne's Alice (Underground) has been released and it's actually pretty decent.  I can't wait for the movie to come out and this vid does a good job of psyching you up for it, but is Avril's singing really flat in this song or is it just me?  I can imagine her being a little flat singing it live, but this is post production.  I mean, they can make Taylor Swift sound good post production so what's going on here?  Regardless of all that, it's a really catchy song, should do fairly well, and put Avril's career back on the right path.
