1. Volunteers Needed

   8am-9am, 12pm-1pm, 5pm-6pm, Grove Park Home, 234 Cook Street, Barrie
   We are looking for volunteers to assist residents with maintaining dignity at meals while providing social stimulation and motivational support: keeping mealtimes pleasant and homey.
   We will provide training.

3. Telecare of Greater Simcoe Volunteer Opportunity

   Wednesday February 1st- Saturday March 24th
   9am-10pm, Westmount United Church, Orillia
   Telecare of Greater Simcoe is looking for caring volunteers who would like to learn more about their city, brush up on communication skills, and help others find their way through troubling times.
   Classes will he held March 24th and 31st.

4. Canadian Ski Patrol Central Zone President Cup, First Aid Competition

   Saturday February 4, 2012
   10am, Mount St. Louis Moonstone Ski Resort, 24 Mount St. Louis Road, Coldwater
   First Aid Competition CANADIAN SKI PATROL CENTRAL ZONE
   Last winter 2,329 people were admitted to hospital in Canada as a result of a skiing or snowboarding fall according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information.
   Have you ever thought about how these people get off the ski hill to get to medical care? Ambulances and paramedics can't get to a patient in the middle of a ski hill or on a nordic trail. The vast majority of injured skiers and boarders are helped by volunteer members of the Canadian Ski Patrol System (C.S.P.S.).
   We invite you to come out and see what we do and how we do it at the C.S.P.S. Central Zone annual First Aid Competition.

5. Winterfest & Festival of Ice

   Saturday February 4 - Sunday February 5, 2012
   10 am - 5 pm,  Heritage Park & Memorial Square, Barrie
   Named one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario, the City of Barrie's Winterfest is a great way to celebrate the winter season with adventures that the whole family will enjoy.
   Check out the polar bear swim, horse-drawn wagon rides, dogsled rides, lumberjack shows, giant snow slide, ice maze, and much more.
   The Festival of Ice features 300 pound blocks of ice carved into spectacular, themed sculptures.
   Join in the festivities at one of the many indoor venues too, including the February Blues Festival, Reel Stories mini film festival, tours and family fun at the MacLarenArtCentre, $1 skating at Barrie's arenas during select times, and storytime and crafts at the Barrie Public Library. The community comes alive with winter fun and celebration. Don't miss these fun activities and so much more throughout the Winterfest weekend!

6. 4th Annual Full Moon Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe

   Saturday February 4, 2012
   6:30pm, Highlands Nordic, Duntroon
   Snowshoe or ski under the stars in support of the Collingwood branch of the Canadian Cancer Society!
   Admission is $15.00 per person. Rentals of snowshoes ($8.00) and cross county skis ($10.00) are available at this event.

8. 40th Annual Minesing Mini-Fest

   Friday February 10, 2012 and Saturday February 11, 2012
   Friday 6:30pm - 10pm and Saturday 9am - 1am, 2347 Ronald Rd., Minesing
   Come out and celebrate the 40th Annual Minesing Mini-Fest! Events start Friday night with a Family Skate with Swampy at the Pavilion and Euchre at the Community Centre. On Saturday enjoy a Pancake Breakfast followed by the Parade and Yard Events at the Community Centre.
   Mini-Fest concludes Saturday night with a dance featuring The Hired Help!

9. 2nd Annual Sled for a Cure

   Saturday February 11, 2012
   OFSC & MOST trails, Barrie
   Join us for a great day on the OFSC & MOST trails covering approximately 150 kms across central Ontario.
   Admission of $50 includes a free lunch. There will be a meet and greet in the evening at the Penalty Box in Barrie.

10. "Love is in the Air" Problem Solving Event in support of the Simcoe-Phoenix Scout Contingent

The Kidney Car Program
This is a fundraising initiative of The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Donate your unwanted vehicle. The vehicles are towed within 48 hrs free of charge and are then recycled or resold. Vehicles that are not resold are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. The car, as well as the tires, battery and oil are all recycled.
