ARMED ROBBERIES

21 Aug 2008

by:

Collingwood OPP way an armed junkie tried to rob a pair of drug stores on Wednesday.  He walked into the stores, on in Meaford, the other in Thornbury, armed with a syringe.  In both cases he demanded narcotics from the pharmacist.  Both stores declined to hand over the drugs, a 911 call led police to the man who was in a parked car at the Meaford military base.  A 25 year old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged.  Meantime in Barrie, police say a man walked into an Essa Road convenience store armed with a handgun.  He demanded cash which was handed over and he fled on foot.  He's described as white, 35-40 years of age, 5 foot 7, thin, black hair, wearing black, had a scarf over his face and was wearing a black hat.  If you have any information, call Barrie police or crimestoppers.
