A committee studying compensation for elected officials in Orillia has concluded that they're underpaid. They're recommending the Mayor's annual stipend be increased from $51,000 to $75,000, and councillors see a salary increase from $23,000 to $35,000 a year. On Tuesday, council voted to accept the committee's recommendations. A public meeting to discuss the proposed increase is scheduled for September 9th.
