THE CHEQUE MAY NOT BE IN THE MAIL

Barrie Police and Canada Post are investigating a couple of mail thefts in the city. Fraud investigator Brian Read says in two instances, someone has emptied red Canada Post mailboxes by turning them over. He says the culprits seem to be looking for business cheques they can cash. There's been some indication organized crime may be involved. Read advises anyone sending cheques, or other valuables through Canada Post, to take them directly to a Canada Post location, rather than dropping them in a street box.
