Expect to see plenty of motorcycles on the roads of Simcoe County this weekend for the 33rd annual Central Ontario Ride For Sight. The three-day festival kicks off at 9 o’clock this morning at Tudhope Park in Orillia and about one-thousand motorcycles are expected to attend the parade, which starts at 10 tomorrow morning at the Paradise Banquet and Convention Centre in Vaughan. There is a marketplace, bike games, a full line-up of entertainment and free camping. Organizers hope to raise 800-thousand dollars this year and anyone can participate in the event, but you are asked to raise a minimum of 75 dollars in pledges. For more information, click here.
Orillia OPP say the public should expect traffic delays along the parade route. The parade will enter into Orillia at approximately noon on Saturday the 18th of June 2011 and will be in parade formation until all motorcycles participating have arrived at Tudhope Park. This parade will affect Highway 12 southbound from the northbound Highway 11 off ramp at Mississaga Street. It will cross the following controlled intersections which will be shut down by OPP officers: -Mississaga St. at Highway 12, -Memorial Ave. at Highway 12, -West St. at Highway 12, -Gill St. at Highway12, -Forest Ave. at Highway 12 -and Atherley Rd. at Highway 12 (Parade ends in Tudhope Park.) Motorists should be made aware that there may be significant traffic back ups. As many as a thousand motorcycles could be expected.
