This mild weather isn’t just wreaking havoc on the roads. The Canadian Pond Hockey Championships planned for this weekend in Muskoka has been cancelled for the first time in seven years due to unsafe ice conditions, while Snowerama in Clearview Township has been postponed until next month due to a lack of snow. Dave Phillips from Environment Canada says there has probably never been another winter like this one. Dave says we’ve only received 83cm of snow to date in the area, which is only half of what we had to this point last year. However, Dave says we typically get 45 per cent of our snow in February, March and April.
