Today is Data Privacy Day, a day to raise awareness of the importance of protecting online profiles and personal information.A global survey of 5-thousand online users found more than half of all adults and children give little thought to the long term impact of their online activities and the potential harm to their reputations, affecting everything from friendships to job offers. John Weigelt of Microsoft Canada says online information shapes how people see you. Weigelt says people don't consider the size of the community they're reaching and the internet, he says, has a long memory. Once you've posted, it's there pretty much forever and can come back to haunt you.
