SAD ENDING

Friday, February 26, 2010

Though the search for their son ended tragically, Andrew Koenig's parents remain touched by the overwhelming amount of support they received over the past week.

"The Koenig family thanks you for your kind thoughts at this difficult time," read an email sent out Friday night by a rep for the family.

"It means a lot to them and they are very appreciative of the support they are receiving. Each of these emails will be printed and bound in a rememberance book."

Koenig was found dead of an apparent suicide today in Vancouver, a week after his parents, Walter and Judith, reported him missing. The discovery of his body was immediately learned of in the Twitterverse, where his fellow celebs started paying their respects:

SOUNDS GOOD

Sex, drugs and knife-wielding masked murderers—seriously, what more could you want in a television show?

After seven seasons of groundbreaking TV, salacious sudser Nip/Tuck closes McNamara/Troy's doors for good Wednesday, March 3, at 10 p.m.. And while our devotion to the one-time hit has waned a bit over the years, we're here to tell you that the series finale does not disappoint.

But fair warning, if you're looking forward to a signature Nip/Tuck jaw-dropping, cringeworthy conclusion, you may want to lower your expectations just a teensy bit

BOB AND PETA SPEAK UP

Nobody is disputing the horrific nature of yesterday's fatal orca attack at SeaWorld Orlando. But plenty of celebs are questioning whether it could have been prevented.

Chief among the crusaders is Bob Barker, who knows a thing or two about advocating animal rights.

The former Price Is Right host teamed up with PETA to pen a letter to the president of the SeaWorld-owning Blackstone Group, asking him to not only close all SeaWorld parks (not just temporarily suspend shows, as many have done), but also to build sanctuaries and coastal refuges for marine animals.

"The death of yet another trainer at SeaWorld did not have to happen, and I must appeal to you to take strong action now so that it never happens again," Barker writes.

GLEEK ALERT

It seemed too good to be true, but now it is definitely happening!

This is what I'm hearing from Glee sources about Neil Patrick Harris' guest spot, which has been rumored for weeks but is now very much a done deal. In fact, as I type this to you, the script for Neil's awesome episode is being written—yee!—and one Fox insider tells me: "The fans will love it." So what will Neil play? Here's what I'm hearing:

Hold on to your track pants, Sue Sylvester! 'Cause one solid Glee insider tells me that Neil is playing a character who is "really funny and really mean." I'm told he will be "much more of the Dr. Horrible variety than Doogie Howser, M.D."

Legend...ary!

So it seems Glee's writers are smartly honing in on their comedy sweet spot: deliciously devious characters who can deliver those breathtaking LOL one-line zingers. (See: Jane Lynch, and now Molly Shannon, who is rumored to be playing an enemy to Sue.)

So where does Neil's guest spot now stand? "When the news first broke that Neil was coming on," one Fox insider says, "it really wasn't happening at that point and nothing was written. But things changed fast, as they do."

That said, we'll know more details when the ink on Neil's ep has dried. But the good news is that the ink has definitely dried on his contract, and we'll get the great flavors of NPH and Glee together in very late spring.

BYE BYE BILLY

Billy Joel and Elton John have been planning a US star this summer, but it has just been canceled due to Billy's year-long career hiatus. Their last show will be March 11th in Albany, which means they're are skipping their highly anticipated show at Wrigley Field.

"As far as I know, there will be no more Billy and Elton shows after the Albany show in New York on March 11th. It's not my decision, it's Billy's. He has decided to take a year off," said John.

Considering Joel's last few months (i.e. the divorce and then daughter hospitalized), we completely understand his decision!

"I'm so disappointed because when we came to Wrigley Field last year… it was like playing in the church of baseball. I was so delighted to be there, and we had such a wonderful two days. It (Joel's hiatus) doesn't gel with my plans but he's a friend. And as an artist, you have to respect his decision," Elton continued.

Hope to see you guys next year!

WHATEVER

It seems that Ben Stiller is finally over avoiding the inevitable and has succumbed to making a sequel to the cult-hit, Zoolander.

Sources say that Paramount has finally given Ben and director/writer Justin Theroux the greenlight to pull the thing together. We know that Justin is currently at Fashion Week in Paris to "immerse himself on what is current in fashion," while Ben is starting early drafts of the script with Justin.

What we don't know is if Owen Wilson will return to walk the catwalk a second time or if Jonah Hill will be given the role as the flick's new villain, though he is in negotiations right now.

SELLING THE HOUSE

Rolling Stones' Ronnie Woods is selling his $11 million, five bedroom home with a view of the Thames River in Chelsea, West London to pay for his divorce.

He bought the house less than two years ago at top price, but is now lowering the price to $9 million to speed up the sale and dissolution of marriage to his wife of 24 years.

"We have had offers, but not close enough to the asking price," said real estate agents Strutt & Parker of the home built in the 1700s.

MR. VEGAS IS IN TROUBLE
Nevada sheriff's deputies descended Thursday on Wayne Newton's 38-acre ranch with movers in tow to carry out a debt-collection action, but were rebuffed, officials told CNN.

The deputies from the department's civil process service were turned away from the property and returned to the Clark County Courthouse in Las Vegas.

The entertainer known as "Mr. Las Vegas" was facing debt collection of more than $455,000 from a breached contract with a man identified in court documents as Monty Ward.

Thursday's action by the deputies was Ward's attempt to use the legal options available to him to collect on the judgment, an attorney connected to the case told CNN.

The judgment is dated January 27.

Because Ward had not been paid, he was taking other steps to collect, the attorney said.

Ward's is not the only civil action related to finances that Newton faces.

Bruton Smith sued Newton this year in an attempt to get repayment on a $3.35 million loan. Newton's home, which he had put up as collateral, could be at risk, court records show.
