This is going to be FANTASTIC!
Sir Paul McCartney will be performing his first ever SOLO stadium tour in the UK this summer!!
The Beatles legend, who is effing 67, will also be headlining Hard Rock Calling, and then the Isle of Wight music festival with Jay-Z and The Strokes!!!
A source says:
"It is really amazing for a man of his age to embark on such a grueling, massive tour. Put simply, these will be his biggest ever shows in Britain. So, really, it just shows what great shape he is in."
McCartney says:
"It's always brilliant to play for the home crowd and these dates are the ones that me and the band are really excited about. This will be my first show on the Isle of Wight and I'm looking forward to a rollicking night of rock 'n' roll. I always remember hearing such great things about this festival and it has such a sense of history with the likes of Jimi Hendrix playing there the first time round."
How unbelievably exciting!!
For our readers in that neck of the woods, here are the tour dates:
June 12 - RDS, Dublin June 13 - Isle of Wight Festival June 20 - Hampden Park, Glasgow June 26 - Millennium Stadium, Cardiff June 27 - Hyde Park Calling, London
No Canadian dates have been announced yet.
NO TO THE TAN SUITE
It turns out that the tan suit O.J. Simpson was wearing when acquitted of murder has not reached national treasure status.
The Smithsonian Institution has unequivocally rejected an attempt by a former Simpson agent to donate the duds to its archive, which includes awesome artifacts like Dorothy's ruby slippers, the Hope diamond, John Dillinger's gun and other items that have played significant roles in U.S. culture.
"The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History will not be collecting O.J. Simpson's suit," read a brief statement on the museum website. "The decision was made by the museum's curators together with the director."
SOUNDING GOOD Hearing Roger Ebert's voice for the first time in nearly four years? Now that's a development we give two thumbs up.
Eight years after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer and four years after losing his voice (and weekly movie review show), the Pulitzer Prize-winning Chicago Sun-Times critic appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show today to debut the fruit of some Scottish computer programmers' labor, a voice that actually sounds like him.
Programmers from CereProc analyzed Ebert's voice from his numerous DVD commentaries and former show, allowing the still-prolific film critic to not only speak his mind, but speak it in his own voice.
It's admittedly not perfect, but it's getting there.
GIVING IT ANOTHER TRY Chynna Phillips has chosen to hold on.
Coinciding with her return from rehab yesterday, the Wilson Phillips singer withdrew a petition to divorce actor-hubby Billy Baldwin, E! News has learned.
"Every married couple has its ups and downs, but they're committed to the relationship," Phillips' publicist, Lizzie Grubman, tells E! News.
The rep confirmed Chynna filed her application on Friday in Santa Barbara, Calif., but rescinded it yesterday.
YEAH Though, none of the prizes involve shooting out of a glass building with Gene Wilder in an elevator. That makes it considerably disappointing.
Regardless, Nestle, owner of the Wonka Chocolate, is launching a real-life golden ticket contest in promotion of it's new Exceptionals line. Ten grand prize winners and their three best friends get to take a trip around the world with $12,500!
That's pretty sweet!
Other prizes include movie certificates, airline vouchers, Ticketmaster gift cards, and free yummy chocolate!
We're about to get Veruca Salt all over this shiz! We want to jet around the globe!
