At least one person wouldn't mind an Avatar spoof at the Academy Awards this Sunday.
James Cameron.
The Oscar-nominated director told me this exclusively tonight at the Global Green party at Avalon. Cameron said he wasn't aware that a proposed Avatar sketch involving Ben Stiller and Sacha Baron Cohen had been cut from the show, presumably to avoid upsetting the director.
"I don't know anything about that...I don't produce the Oscars. If they want to poke fun at Avatar Sunday, that's OK by me," said Cameron.
As far as he's concerned, he told me, jokes are just another element of the Hollywood's big night. And he's fine with it.
"The Oscars are a celebration of movies...even the gaffes and out of bounds stuff are all part of the fun."
So he's good with it. Sascha, are you still willing?
Rihanna's slammin' bod didn't come cheap.
Not according to the personal trainer who's suing the songbird for more than $26,000 in unpaid services, anyway.
Cindy Percival filed a lawsuit last week in Los Angeles Superior Court stating that she was never paid for working solely for Rihanna in September and October 2009.
YEAH FOR DON DRAPER The voice behind Mercedes-Benz's new commercial for the S400 Hybrid will be Mad Men's Jon Hamm!
Hot!
Hamm's voice in the commercial is said to be a "terrific, very resonant voice with a lot of gravitas to it."
Don Draper will be taking over VO duties from former Waltons star, Richard Thomas for Mercedes, with the ad premiering on Oscars Sunday!
GOOD IDEA?
Warner Bros. Pictures is looking to revitalize Gilligan's Island into a "contemporary" flick. As of now, the movie is in the development stages, with a few producers in place and a screenwriter working to put out a draft.
Just one problem with this, people - a "contemporary take" of the Island has already been done.
It's called LOST!
JOHN AND HIS LADY LOVE
And honestly, who can resist the urges of Johnny Depp? We sure as hell couldn't!
Next year, Johnny may very well get his long time wish to star in a flick alongside his partner, Vanessa Paradis in a new movie called American Dream. Though Johnny admits that "nothing has been officially signed" he foresees both his and Vanessa's involvement with film about the French feminist Simone de Beauvoir and her love affair with Nelson Algren "progressing well."
Here's hoping for you, Johnny!
MORE BLUE FUN
Neil Patrick Harris will be lending his voice for the lead animated role in the upcoming Smurfs: The Movie for Sony!
The flick is going to be a mix of live action and animation with filming beginning in April.
We weren't completely sold on a Smurfs movie before, but if NPH is in we are, too!
LIFE SIZE ALEC Back when Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger loved each other, his brother Stephen commissioned a portrait for Alec to give to his wife as a present. And in the divorce, it went back to the funnyman.
It currently resides on Ebay! The listing is as follows:
Up for auction is this original portrait Alec Baldwin. This very large painting was commissioned by his brother Steven as a gift to Kim Basinger. Steven also had a painting of Kim done for Alec. Alec received this portrait (of himself) in the divorce. It has been in the family ever since.
This painting was painted by the portrait artist Dean Hansford in 1991. IT MEASURES 58" TALL BY 39 1/2" . The striking graphic image of Mr. Baldwin once graced his wife's wall. Now, it can be yours- the perfect centerpiece for your collection! We are starting the painting very reasonably to open up the bidding to more of Alec's friend.
And that tacky shiz can be yours at a starting bid of $200!
Would U want to hang that in your house (even if you were married to the guy)?!
KICKIN' BUTT
For the second night in a row, Jay Leno's Tonight Show has dominated!
It pulled in a 4.6 household rating killing Letterman's 3.1 rating and Kimmel's 1.7.
Wonder how long it's gonna last?!
