Websites Go Dark To Protest Anti-Piracy Legislation

January 18, 2012

Some American websites are shutting down this morning, in protest of anti-piracy legislation in the U.S. Congress. Wikipedia has blacked out its English-language site and provides a link to learn more about the controversial bills. Search engine Google has also added a link to a petition against the bills on its site, reading "Tell Congress: Please don't censor the web!", while social media site reddit said it would shut down for 12 hours today.
